still a jwexelder, I know they have a website. I looked it up because my next door neighbours are Zoroastrianism ( and very nice people). Their daughters had a ceremony this past year that involved lots of flowers and garlands, and they had to fly 2 priests in as there aren't any that live here.

Zoroastrianism
by estatubatuar ini was wondering if anyone can relate to the following: i was led to seriously doubt the jw organization and the uniqueness/infallibility of the bible upon learning that many of the beliefs and doctrines of the judeo-christian tradition were predated by a persian religion by the name of zoroastrianism.
for example, according to many if not most scholars, the concepts of monotheism (one god), satan, angels, resurrection, baptism, paradise on earth or in heaven, etcetera..., weren't clearly mentioned/emphasized in the hebrew scriptures or espoused by the israelites until after they were exiled in babylon - circa 6th century b.c.
one example i would like to cite, which many a witness can probably relate to, is that no clear mention of a resurrection/afterlife is made in the hebrew scriptures, i.e., we all end up in sheol (non-existence).

Runningman, you win. This morning it is a balmy -30 (with windchill -39) here. This is a contest I am happy to let you win. Did you try tossing the boiling water in the air, too? Anyway, they say the worst is over for a bit, and it will warm up a bit soon.

OK, Jgnat, we are both wacky today. LOL.
I tossed mine really high in the air and I think it gave it a bit more hang time .

Hello Shamus, my fellow arctic dweller.
It is going down to -39 here tonight, but not much wind, than goodness. I think I'm curling up with a cup of tea and a good book.

What should I do if the Internet goes down ?
by Simon inevery year we grow more and more dependent on the internet.
but would you know what to do if your connection suddenly went down?
no one knows when the internet will fail.

We had 2 weeks of hassle with our internet connection a while ago. I was so frustrated, then I remembered..............
The public library here has computer with internet access. With my library card I got 1 hour a day of internet time.
It was enough to stop withdrawal.

Are YOU: rh negative ?
by RAYZORBLADE ini have always found the topic of blood/hematology, fascinating, and even moreso, the discussions regarding: rh compatibility.. are you rh negative?
if so, do you know your alpha designation: o, a, b, or ab ?.
even if someone is not interested, nor willing to take a blood transfusion, if you are a woman, and you are rh negative, and your husband/partner is rh positive, you can bet your bottom dollar, it'll matter in the near future.

This site may be helpful. Blood is carefully typed and crossmatched before being given, so it more of an organ than a fluid.

jgnat, I know just what you mean by the "blah" house. I was surprised because their yard was kind of unkept and with half done gardening projects. It really surprised me as she talked about an interest in gardening, but she said she never had time. Now I know why she never had time. I don't think that they were "bad" neighbours, though.

I have never been in a Kingdom Hall, ever, period. I'm actually really curious, after all I have read here, but it isn't worth the hassle.
Waymore, if there won't be negative consequences like them bugging you afterwards , I think that if you feel like it, you should go.
......then post to everyone here what you discovered.
